Staying at this temple hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. The beautiful decor of the room and the peaceful garden view from the window made our stay enchanting. The staff was so accommodating to our large group, and the electric blankets and heaters kept us warm during chilly fall nights. The shared bathroom was spotless and well-equipped, and the kitchen was a nice addition for budget travellers. The short walk to downtown and train station made exploring the city convenient.

The Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji offered a unique and memorable experience during my stay. The traditional Japanese decoration throughout the hotel, especially in the main temple hall, was absolutely breathtaking. The beautiful tatami rooms with comfy futons provided a cozy and authentic atmosphere, perfect for a senior like me. Not to mention, the hotel's convenient location made it easily accessible for me to explore the main shopping streets and attractions of Takayama.

The only thing I would have asked for is for the children working there to be more attentive to the needs of senior guests. It would have been nice to have additional assistance or guidance for those of us who may require a little extra help during our vacation.

We got great value for our money with beautiful rooms and an excellent view. The location was perfect, just a short walk away from the bustling downtown. The staff treated us wonderfully, providing a detailed tour and great recommendations.

Breakfast delights could have been better, with more variety or unique options on the menu.

I recently stayed at Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji during my travel and I must say it was a convenient choice. Being a transit traveler, I appreciated the fact that the nearest airport was only 84 km away from the hotel. the hotel itself provided a serene and tranquil atmosphere, allowing me to relax and unwind after a long journey.

During my stay in winter, I found the temple to be very cold. Although the manager priest tried to warm us up using a high-power kerosene gas heater, the one in my room was slightly defective, resulting in a faint smell of kerosene.

The breakfast had something for everyone - toast and pancakes. The place had a family atmosphere. The location of the hotel was magnificent - not too far away from a mountainside park. The venue itself was in a very pleasant area, next to remarkable Buddhist temple and the key landmarks are located.

Mind-blowing temple stay with stunning garden views, comfortable bathrooms with washer and dryer. Central location with delicious food options nearby. Luxurious towels, top quality amenities.

We stayed at this hotel for our vacation and it was one of the best experiences we had in Japan. From the moment we booked, everything was just perfect. The rooms were exactly as shown in the pictures and the bathroom was lovely. We were impressed by the attention to detail and the luxurious amenities provided. The towels were thick and fluffy, the shampoos and toiletries were of top quality, and the shared living room had a great architecture. We also appreciated the helpfulness of the staff, who gave us restaurant recommendations and allowed us to participate in their prayer services. It truly was a lovely traditional cultural experience.

The check-in process was a bit unexpected and challenging due to finding a rock in the dark. However, this minor inconvenience didn't overshadow the overall wonderful stay.

Lovely welcome, experienced morning prayer, Moon Room with excellent heating, well-designed shared bathroom, close to restaurants and attractions, overall a great cultural experience. 🌙

Nothing to fault.

I loved the calming and serene atmosphere of Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji. The view of the Zen garden from my room was breathtaking. The opportunity to participate in an authentic Buddhist celebration in the morning was truly special. The shared bathroom was clean and the shower was spacious and luxurious. The kitchen facilities were a bonus, and I appreciated the gluten-free map provided by the thoughtful host. Although there were a few minor inconveniences, the overall experience was unique and beautiful.

Unique property, accommodating staff, comfortable futons, excellent shared bathroom, central location.

Absolutely nothing to say about dislikes.
